10 Fun Events to Enjoy at Charleston’s 7th Annual Beer Week!

As the nation's craft beer industry grows exponentially, so has the local Charleston craft beer scene over the last few years. We now boast 30 breweries & brewpubs, numerous craft beer-focused pubs, restaurants, retail stores, and a population ever-warming to the idea that beer should not only taste like something, but taste like something delicious.

Come enjoy the 7th Annual Charleston Beer Week, taking place September 7th through the 14th and try the wide variety of craft beer brands enjoyed in the area with a wide variety of unique events you wouldn't normally find on your calendar.

Disk Golf at COAST

Join COAST Brewing Company as they kick-off Charleston Beer Week with a friendly disc golf event, featuring 18 holes with 9 baskets, on and around the grounds at COAST in lovely North Charleston! This is a fun, laid back day of D-Golf but there are prizes for hole in one, top score, and more…

Lunch, special event disc, and 3 beers included. Come prepared for fun and don’t forget your bug spray!

Brewtality 2019 at The Music Farm

The World Famous Music Farm is stoked to announce the inaugural Brewtality Beer Fest! Come on out to enjoy live music, food by Dave ‘N’ Dubs, and samples of the best local brews Charleston has to offer. This is a “people’s choice” event, where fans can taste over 17 local beers and vote for their favorite of the night.

What’s up for grabs? Breweries will be competing for a “Headliner” and “Support” spot on the Music Farm’s bar menu for a full year.

You must be at least 21 years old to attend. Double mark your calendars!

Kayaking and Lowcountry Boil at Bowen's Island Restaurant

Charleston Outdoor Adventures will get you on the water for a paddle around the Lowcountry waterways. After the ride, you’ll be back on land for an A.Y.C.E. Lowcountry boil catered by Bowens Island Restaurant. Special Holy City Beers will be available as part of your ticket!

Tickets also include gear rental, dinner, and an open beer bar. Holy City will also make a donation from each ticket sold to Surfrider Foundation Charleston Chapter who will be on hand to teach you about protecting our Lowcountry habitat!

If you already have your own kayak, a select number of discounted tickets will be available to “Bring Your Own Kayak”. These will just include dinner and beer.

This event sells out each year, so get them fast. The event is Rain or Shine and will only be cancelled under the advice of Charleston Outdoor Adventures for extreme weather. Full refunds will be available if you cannot get on the water.

Craft Beer Dinner at Chico Feo

Come explore the flavors from Folly Beach at the Edge of America and a taste of local island cuisine paired with a fine selection of Charleston craft brewed beer. Features include Cuban beans and rice and Chico’s famous Curry Goat with a four course beer dinner–straight “outta” Folly. Each course emphasizes a different Charleston brewery, creating a well-rounded tasting experience for our Charleston Beer Week guests!

Get the Funk Out at Edmund's Oast Exchange

Join the team at Edmund’s Oast Exchange for a true educational experience as they provide you with a tasting and comparative pairing between sour/funky beers (led by Brandon Plyler, Advanced Cicerone) AND natural wines (led by Sarah O’Kelley, Certified Sommelier). There are significant parallels between funky beers and natural wines. At this event you will explore the parallels that exist between the beer and wine worlds.

Tastings are free with a suggested $5 donation to Edmund’s Oast Exchange’s selected charity partner. Full pours can be purchased for $6 and half pours for $3

Beer Brewed by Women for Women at Tradesman

This annual event brings together women in the brewing industry to collaborate on recipes and brew beers for a purpose. This year, the BREWSTERS will be offering up 10 different beer brewed by women for women. 100% of sales of these beers will benefit this year’s charity, Doors to Freedom. Doors to Freedom has been established to provide a safe place for survivors of sex trafficking to experience a transformed life.

Join us at Tradesman Brewing on the patio for this special event dedicated to deliciously empowered beers.

Drink Beer to Save Turtles at Holy City

Come out to Holy City Brewing to raise awareness for the Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA). TSA is an action-oriented global partnership that is committed to zero turtle extinctions in the 21st century. They will be bringing out some turtles from the Turtle Survival Center near Charleston to mingle with guests in the Holy City Brewing tap room!

Holy City will be releasing a brand new collaboration beer, with money from each pint going back to TSA! The brewery kitchen will be preparing special menu items to pair for the event and Drink Beer Save Turtles tee shirts will also be on sale with all proceeds going to the charity.

All ages of turtle fans welcome! Come out for a great cause!

Rising Hope IPA Release at Charles Towne Fermentory

One brewery from every state has partnered up to brew the “Rising Hope IPA” with 100% of the proceeds from sales going to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, whose goal is to provide much needed funding for pediatric cancer research in the hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer. Charles Towne Fermentory is the South Carolina partner for the “Brewing Funds for the Cure” project.

Yard Pong at Commonhouse Aleworks

Goat Races at Low Tide!

Low Tide Brewing is throwing their second annual farm party that will encapsulate the spirit of Johns Island. The center piece for the event will be a goat race featuring goats from Burden Creek Dairy Goat Farm. Yes you heard right, they are having GOAT RACES!

Enjoy lots of beer, additional farm party activities and decorations. Charleston Beer Week prizes will be available and other specials will occur throughout the evening. Burden Creek Farm will be onsite selling their cheese and milk products as well as hosting a “petting zoo” before and after the race where you can feed the goats for a donation.
