If you’re the romantic type, there are two Charleston restaurants you must check out with your significant other.
The crowd-sourced review site Yelp released its list of the Top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants on Friday…just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Circa 1886 Restaurant ranked 82nd on Yelp’s list.
Located at 149 Wentworth Street in downtown Charleston, Yelp users ranked it at 4.5 out of 5 stars.
“Put this place on the TOP of your list when you’re looking for a fine dining option downtown!” one reviewer, Andrew, wrote. “From the building itself to the food you’re not going to have a better experience than at Circa.”
“Meal was a little pricey, but definitely worth a visit, especially for a special evening,” Ben, another reviewer, wrote. “Ambiance is very warm and inviting, and exudes class without being stuffy. Highly recommended.”
Magnolias ranked 85th on the list.
Located at 185 East Bay St. in Charleston’s French Quarter, Magnolias also earned a 4.5 out of a possible 5 stars.
“Amazingly delicious, fresh southern food paired with impeccable service,” reviewer Chau wrote about her visit.
“Starting from the bread to the entree, this place is top notch,” Elizabeth, who visited from New York, wrote.
To select the most romantic spots, Yelp’s editors identified restaurants on with a large number of reviews mentioning the words “romantic,” “Valentine’s Day” and “date night.” Those spots were then ranked using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning the relevant keywords.
To ensure geographic diversity of the list, Yelp limited the list to two restaurants per metro area. Circa 1886 Restaurant and Magnolias were the only Charleston restaurants to make the list, but were also the only South Carolina restaurants to rank in the top 100!
By the way, if you don’t have a significant other, either restaurant might be just as good a choice for dining solo in celebration of “Singles Awareness Day” on Feb. 15.
