The Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is the most significant nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles north of Florida.  Every summer, nearly 2,000 loggerhead nests are recorded on the protected beaches of these barrier islands. Throughout the summer months, a crew of volunteers head out to these islands by boat and battle heat and tides to categorize each nest, move them to higher ground and cage them.  They monitor them daily to determine when they hatch and record their success.

Ticket sales from the Bird Jam for Turtles will be used to help ensure that the Coastal Expeditions Foundation is able to continue this important work.
