Hot Air Balloon Festival

LOCATION:Hyde Park Farm & Polo Club, 6763 Davis Rd., Ravenel
It’s the kind of thing you normally see in movies, but this weekend you can take to the skies in a hot air balloon. The three day event brings you several opportunities to take part, and it all leads up to the third year of the Victory Cup Polo Match. There will also be plenty of vendors selling keepsakes, local music artists and visual artists, a food and alcohol tasting, and much more. You can catch a ride on the hot air balloon in the morning or during the evening glow, so make sure you snag your tickets!
Fall Reggae Jam
DATE: Saturday Oct. 13

LOCATION: Music Farm, 32 Ann St, Charleston, SC 29403
The Fall Reggae Jam is back in the Lowcountry this weekend! Several music artists will provide a fun night of reggae tunes you’re sure to enjoy. The line up includes Alterea Baxter & Friends, The Dubplates, Amani & The Give Thanks Band, and Papa Robbie. And the night is all for a great cause as ticket proceeds go to the Montego Bay Animal Haven.

This weekend, Oktoberfest is bringing in the Fall season with lots of brews and authentic German food. Cashing in a ticket to the event grants you a meal, and a non-alcoholic drink, alongside some great live music. Grab a dancing partner, or feel free to steal the show as the Hans Schmidt German Band and the Accordion Sounds of Ed Morris take the stage. There will also be activities kids can enjoy, such as face painting, games, and more. Beer and wine tickets will be available to buy during the event.
Latin American Festival
DATE: Sunday, Oct. 14
LOCATION: North Charleston Wannamaker County Park, 8888 University Blvd
COST: $10 adult, $5 with student ID, free 12 + under
Get out your dancing shoes and dive into the rich Latin American culture at this weekend’s Latin American Festival. There will be plenty of opportunities to salsa across the dance floor – and don’t worry, you can also enjoy authentic salsa eats too. There will be plenty of other dishes, as well as crafts and activities the family can enjoy.
Out of the Darkness Walk
DATE: Sunday, Oct. 14
TIME: 1-4 pm
LOCATION: Hampton Park, 30 Mary Murray Dr, Charleston, SC 29403
The annual Out of the Darkness Walk wraps up the weekend with an effort to prevent suicide. Sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), you can walk a path at Hampton Park for the cause. It is free to register. And since this is also a fundraising effort, those who raise $150 will receive this year’s Walk T-Shirt.
