Get Your Tastebuds Ready for These Major Charleston Food Festivals!

It’s going to be a tasty start to the new year as several Lowcountry businesses are gearing up to bring their popular food festivals to the Lowcountry. From an array of gourmet mac and cheese, to wine and food, here are some festivals you want to prepare your tastebuds for!

Charleston Food Truck Festival 

You can spot them on just about every other corner of downtown Charleston or North Charleston – tasty, one of a kind food coming from some of the most well known food trucks nationwide. On January 26, they all come together for the Charleston Food Truck Festival.  The annual event is eight years strong and has expanded to two days this year! There will be 25 food trucks from across the Southeast providing uniquely made treats for you and the family to enjoy. And if the food isn’t enough, try a cigar bar, Bloody Mary and mimosa bar, a huge kid zone and much more.

Lowcountry Oyster Festival


When you come to the Lowcountry, you can’t leave without tasting one of its seafood delicacies: oysters. And the perfect time to do so is during the Lowcountry Oyster Festival.  The Lowcountry Oyster Festival is the world’s largest oyster festival and has been named one of the “top 20 events in the southeast” by Southeastern Tourism Society. Some of what you can expect at he festival includes oyster shucking and oyster eating contests. There will also be live entertainment and a children’s area, along with a food court.

Where to find it: Boone Hall Plantation, 1235 Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464
When to be there: Event kicks off at 10 AM Sunday January 27 until 5 PM
Admission: $17.50 in advance (online, Boone Hall Farms, official Visitor Center) and $25 at the gate. Children 10 and under are free with an adult general admission ticket. Includes entry into event. VIP tickets are $25

Charleston Restaurant Week


Looking to get around to more restaurants across the Lowcountry? Charleston Restaurant Week is a great time to explore them with friends and family for less. Group deals are available at some of Charleston’s finest restaurants, and many of those deals include full course meals. The event kicks off January 9 -20 at various participating restaurants.

The Charleston Mac-Off

It’s the side dish that we all love so much it becomes the most anticipated dish of family dinners – mac and cheese. Now, it has it’s own place to shine at the upcoming Charleston Mac-Off. This event is loaded with cheesy goodness. Thirteen competitors will battle it out to be crowned the “best” mac and cheese craftsman. While you’re there, enjoy live entertainment, beer, wine and other various cocktails, along with other food choices to enjoy once you’ve got your mac and cheese fix. The kids can enjoy themselves as well with their own kids zone .

When to be there: 11 AM – 4PM on Saturday January 12
Admission: Tickets are $15 to access the event with parking, but if you want the all around VIP experience, it will cost you $125 which includes VIP Parking, Open Bar, Private Bathrooms, Catered Food, Access Pass to Mac & Cheese Vendors, and Beer Garden.
