Throughout the month (and throughout the year), guests can take the Beyond The Fields Walking Tour and view Eliza’s House where an exhibit focusing on the daily lives of enslaved people and their work “beyond the fields” is on display. Black History Month activities included with General Admission Beyond the Fields Tours Weekdays 11 am and 1 pm | Weekends 11 am, 12, 1 and 2 pm Explore the lives of the enslaved and freedmen with discussions of domestic life, labor, religion and spirituality. Beyond the Fields Documentary Viewing in the Pavilion Tuesdays and Thursdays in Feb. at 11:30 and 1:30 (no viewing on Feb. 28) Award-winning 60 minute documentary film on the history, research and interpretation of slavery at Middleton Place. Indigo and Slavery Program Feb. 2 and 16 at 10:30 am – 2:30 pm Ongoing presentation about 18th-century South Carolina’s main exports and their ties to slavery. Rice and Slavery Program Feb. 9 and 23 at 10:30 am – 2:30 pm Ongoing presentation about 18th-century South Carolina’s main exports and their ties to slavery. Colonoware Pit-Firing Program Feb 15 from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm Ongoing presentation about slave-made and used pottery during the 18th century.
