Events: 10 a.m. – The arrival of a Volkswagen Beetle resembling a giant
200,000 ladybugs will be released in the gardens in an effort to help control other small, more harmful insects such as aphids and scale insects.
The event will be held from 9am-2pm and the distribution of ladybugs will begin at approximately 10 am with the arrival of a Volkswagen Beetle resembling a gigantic ladybug. Hundreds of children will then scatter throughout the gardens to find the perfect spot to release their share of ladybugs. The event will also feature exhibits including nature displays, interactive activities, environmental organizations, and face painting. It’s a great way for children to learn how they can help preserve and protect our natural environment.
Come dressed in your favorite ladybug costume and be a part of the costume contest! Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: children ages 3 and under, ages 4 to 6, ages 7 and up, and family/group. The contest will take place at about 11:30 am.
Paid garden admission is required to participate and children must be accompanied by an adult. Garden admission is $20 for adults, $10 for children 6 to 12 years and children 5 and under get in for free. Please note: complimentary passes will not be accepted for this special event.
