Food & Hope Growing at Fresh Future Farm

It's in the middle of a "food desert"

North Charleston’s Chicora/Cherokee neighborhood is considered to be a food desert. Germaine Jenkins founded Fresh Future Farm to address the health, wealth, and quality of life disparities in the neighborhood. Germaine, like many of the neighborhood’s residents, struggled to access affordable, healthy food. She and all of the farm staff believe that everyone deserves to eat quality food.

Fresh Future Farm prides itself on being a non-profit urban farm and grocery store. Educational classes and events are held at the farm to help the community get involved in creating a healthier community.  To stay up-to-date with the farm visit their site here!
