There will soon be a new place for breakfast, lunch, and dessert in downtown Charleston.
Hero Doughnuts & Buns is planning to open its first South Carolina restaurant at 145 Calhoun Street. This 3,000-square-foot space opposite Marion Square previously contained a Panera Bread location.
The business is expected to open to customers in early 2021, according to Angie Mosier of Pihakis Restaurant Group.
It will be open daily between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and is also expected to have a walk-up window that will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The chain currently has two locations in Alabama and one in Georgia. The existing Hero Doughnuts & Buns shops also serve burgers, salads, sandwiches, and coffee.
The company is intending to apply for a liquor license for 145 Calhoun Street, according to a public notice. A spokesperson for the South Carolina Department of Revenue said that the agency does not yet have an application for this location.
