The biggest St. Paddy’s Day celebration in the Lowcountry is cancelled for 2020

UPDATE 3.12.2020 –
The Parade and Block Party have been cancelled per Mayor Keith Summey “as a precaution for the safety of our citizens”. Businessines in this area will remain open but the festival itself will not take place. The Mayor also mentioned in his address that they are looking at a replacement for this event in the summer to help the businesses affected. See his full message here.  

The  17th Annual St. Paddy’s Day Block Party and Parade in North Charleston is fun for the whole family! The celebration kicks off with a parade at noon followed by the block party until 6 p.m. This year’s Grand Marshalls are Robert Spencer & James Hartzog, owner and manager of Madra Rua Irish Pub. The parade will also feature The Charleston Pipe Band, Irish dancers and The Tide Boyz dance squad. At the block party, enjoy live music on three different stages, delicious food from Park Circle restaurants and street vendors and even a mechanical bull! Take the littles to the Kids’ Zone for jump castles, bungee trampolines, face paintings and inflatable slides. They can also get up close to a real fire truck!

Parade Route
The parade starts at Park Place East, which is adjacent to East Montague Avenue and across from Park Circle Community Center. It will then proceed down East Montague Avenue, through the block party location to Virginia Avenue.

Road Closures
East Montague Avenue between Virginia Ave and Jenkins Avenue and portions of O’Hear Ave., Chateau Avenue and Colie Morse Lane will close at 9:00 am for set up and remain closed until 7:00 pm.  Additionally, East Montague Avenue between Park Place East and Jenkins Avenue will close at 11:30 am and stay closed for the duration of the parade.

Block Party Location
East Montague Avenue between Virginia Avenue and Jenkins Avenue, including portions of O’Hear, Chateau and Colie Morse Avenues.

Parking near the event is free but very limited. Additional free parking is located on Noisette Boulevard via Virginia Avenue. Rideshares and carpools are encouraged. Designated disabled parking is located at the corner of Virginia Avenue and Empire Avenue. VIP Parking will be available for $5 at North Charleston High School. Funds raised will benefit their ROTC program.
