Light the Lake is a staple to the start of the Christmas season in Charleston. Families gather around Colonial Lake for an evening of Christmas music, carolers, games, and a tree lighting ceremony.
The festival will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 this year! Go to Colonial Lake to take part in the free event.
Bring the whole family and invite your friends for an evening of Christmas spirit. Food trucks such as Kickin’ Chicken, Braised in the South, Roti Rolls, and more will be at the event.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a new toy to place in Santa’s carriage with donations for Toys for Tots! Santa’s carriage is the perfect place for a Christmas photo-op too.
Guests are welcome to enjoy holiday cookie decorating, a photo booth, and a station where kids can write letters to Santa. There will also be an ugly sweater contest so make sure to wear yours to the event!
At the conclusion of the festival, there will be a count-down to the lighting of the tree that sits in the middle of Colonial Lake! Light the Lake is a completely free, family-friendly event. For more information, visit the Charleston Parks Conservancy website here!
