Then there were two! After several local eateries and chefs were named on the semifinalist list for James Beard Awards last month, the short list of finalists is out and only two Charleston spots remain. FIG has been named a finalist for Outstanding Restaurant, awarded to “a restaurant that demonstrates consistent excellence in food, atmosphere, service, and operations” over 10 or more consecutive years. FIG is up against New York City’s Balthazar, Washington, D.C.’s Jaleo, San Francisco’s Quince and Philadelphia’s Zahav.
