There’s a lot happening at Charleston County Parks this October. Here’s a few ideas to make the most of your upcoming fall weekends!
Johns Island County Park
Sat., Oct 10, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Join us on the scenic trails of Johns Island County Park for our annual Lowcountry Trail Half Marathon and 5K. The 5K will start at 8 a.m. and the half marathon will begin at 8:30.
Fee: $32 (5K), $40 (half marathon)
Ages: 10 and up
Wannamaker County Park
Thu., Oct. 15, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The moon and stars enhance this flowing yoga class. Participants receive a special glow in the dark prize. Live music provided. Open to all fitness levels. Rain date: Thursday, October 24.
Ages: 12 and up

Early Morning Bird Walks
Caw Caw Interpretive Center
Wednesdays and Saturdays, Oct. 3, 7, 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28, 31, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Go on one or more of the center’s regular bird walks. Their trek through many distinct habitats will allow you to view and discuss a variety of birds, butterflies, and other organisms. A paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under. Every Wednesday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Registration is not required. Participants are encouraged to bring your own binoculars. Maximum, 10 participants.
Fee: $9; free for Gold Pass holders
Ages: All, a paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

Family High Static Course Challenge
Outdoor Zone at James Island County Park
Ongoing dates: Oct. 4 at 1 and 2 p.m.; Oct. 15 at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.; Oct. 24 at 9, 10 and 11 a.m.; Oct. 29 at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.
Enjoy an afternoon outdoors while building memories and strengthening bonds on our Teams High Static Course! Beat the quarantine blues with your family or friends; each time slot will only be available to one group (of up to 4 members) at a time. Pre-registration required.
