Lowcountry Lowdown: April 29-May 1

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Lowcountry Weekend) - The last weekend of April is quickly approaching and there are plenty of events going on across the Lowcountry.

The Charleston Parks Conservancy is celebrating 15 years of connecting people to their parks this Sunday at Hampton Park. It’s Picnic in the Parks - A Birthday Celebration. The grownups can enjoy live music, brunch, and more! Kids can head to the Farms Petting Zoo, make crafts, and participate in several games among other things! Your ticket purchase benefits the mission of the Charleston Parks Conservancy in over 20 public parks

Head to Firefly Distillery Saturday for the Park Circle Spring Roll Challenge. There will be an egg roll cooking competition, a vendor market, along with a food truck rodeo. Play at the carnival games and listen to live music. Local spirits will be available from Firefly Distillery.

Head to the Charleston Harbor this weekend for exciting races..... It’s Charleston Race Week! A fleet of more than 200 boats in 15 classes will descend upon the holy city. This is one of the largest keelboat regattas in the Americas. Races will be held through Sunday.

The weather this weekend will be beautiful so why not Explore Downtown Charleston while completing a scavenger hunt? City Scavenger Hunt has three unique hunts for you to complete, each taking you around the Holy City. Your knowledge of local trivia and riddle-solving will be tested. The Boozy scavenger hunt includes some of the city’s best restaurants and bars. The Doggo scavenger hunt is designed with your pet in mind.
