5 things to try at the Parks this August

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Lowcountry Weekend) - Summer is still in full swing and Charleston County Parks have a lot of fun to offer all week long. Here are 5 fun events to check out this month.

Reggae Nights Summer Concert @ James Island County Park

Friday, Aug. 5, 7:30-11 p.m.

Bring your chair or blanket and rock the night away to traditional old school roots reggae from Crucial Fiya at James Island County Park. Inclusive Prom @ Jones Center - 391 Egypt Road, Mount Pleasant

Saturday, Aug. 13, 6 – 8 p.m.

Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series Championship Race @ James Island County Park

Sunday, Aug.14, 7-11 a.m.

This landmark, five-race series is open to all abilities and fitness levels ages 12 and up. The course includes a 600-yard swim, a 12-mile bike ride, and a 5K run. The registration fee is $72. Spaces are limited and event is expected to sell out.

Dancing on the Cooper: Vinyl Daze @ Mount Pleasant Pier

Saturday, Aug. 20, 7-10:30 p.m.

Enjoy scenic views of the Charleston Harbor while dancing and listening to live music from Wet Nose Dogs. Live music starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and the event is open to all ages.

Sunrise Yoga @ Mount Pleasant Pier

Saturday, Aug. 27, 7 – 8 a.m.

Stretch your body, awaken your mind, and fuel your spirit in this uplifting, intention-setting yoga class to enhance your day ahead. Open to all fitness levels and abilities ages 12 and up. Tickets are $12.
