Summerville’s Flowertown Festival kicks off Friday

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (Lowcountry Weekend) - The annual Flowertown Festival returns to Summerville this weekend for an event that promises to be bigger than ever and to celebrate the event’s 50th anniversary.

Approximately 200,000 will flock to the streets of downtown Summerville for this weekend’s three days of flowers, food and fun for children of all ages. Dozens of vendors will sell their colorful wares around Azalea Park and 200 jury-selected artists will display and sell their artwork during the long weekend.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Visitors can enjoy food from restaurants and commercial food vendors. The Children’s Jubilee and Kids Fest will feature activities and rides for the little ones.

There will also be a farmers’ market powered by Summerville Dream.

Admission and parking is free.

The Flowertown Festival is the Y’s premiere fundraiser founded in 1973 to support health and wellness programs at the Y.
