Blessing of the Fleet & Jazz Family Day: Things to do this Lowcountry weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - You might have to dodge some showers this weekend, but there are still plenty of events happening around the Lowcountry.

The annual Blessing of the Fleet & Seafood Festival happens this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Memorial Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant. The event will offer a boat parade, live music, a craft show, seafood samplings sold by local restaurants, shag dancing and lots of other free activities. Once parking fills up, parade attendees can use a free shuttle service. Admission, parking and activities are free.

Gather up the family for Family Archery on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at John’s Island County Park at the Archery Range, as well as Intro to Archery this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn how to target each archery range at the Johns Island County Park. Equipment will be provided, and all you need to do is pre-register for this event.

Jazz Family Day is this Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hanahan Amphitheater. You can enjoy live music from high school ensembles in the area, food trucks, vendors and more. Some of the featured bands include, Cane Bay High, Berkeley All-County Jazz Band, Wanda High, Charleston All-Star Jazz Band and more. This event is free, outdoors and open to the public.
