You will set sail aboard the Carolina Queen for an entertaining, 2 hour cruise featuring some great local bands and a great time on Charleston Harbor with amazing views! You don’t want to miss this series. It will make the perfect beginning to your weekend!
While aboard the Carolina Queen, you’ll get close-up views of some of the Holy City’s most famous and charming sights, including:
- Fort Sumter: One of Charleston’s most popular landmarks, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired
- USS Yorktown: the famous World War II “Fighting Lady”
- St. Michael’s Episcopal Church: A survivor of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, whose steeple was painted black so as not to be an easy target
- Stately homes on the Battery: Symbols of Southern elegance and perseverance
- The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge: A state of the art span that accommodates the largest ships in the world
15th Annual Sweetgrass Festival

Location: Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront
The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah people’s history, culture, traditions, and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant and continues to exist in our town and surrounding communities today.
Offering free admission, entertainment, and activities, the Sweetgrass Festival also provides an opportunity for local basket makers to showcase, promote and market their sweetgrass merchandise to locals as well as cultural tourists from around the country.
Additionally, the Sweetgrass Festival provides an opportunity for engagement, interaction, and exposure to the Gullah People’s cultures. Informative and interesting educational sessions will enlighten and entertain participants of all ages.
Shaggin' on the Cooper
Date: Saturday, July 13

Cost: $8 advance, tickets at the gate $10
Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready for summer and Shaggin’ on the Cooper! Live music of all varieties will fill the air with local bands performing throughout the season at the Mount Pleasant Pier. All ages are invited to let loose, breathe in the harbor breeze and dance the night away under the stars.
Gates open at 7 p.m., and music begins at 8 p.m.

Adoption event featuring $5 Moscow Mules courtesy of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, great beer courtesy of Sierra Nevada (and benefiting Pet Helpers) at Locals restaurant in Mount Pleasant! You can meet and possibly take home one (or two) wonderful shelter dogs, eat, drink, listen to live music, and take part in raffles/giveaways/silent auctions! Raffle for Seafox boat will take place at 4 p.m.
