Coastal Expeditions After School Kayaking, Shem Creek:
Growing up in the Lowcountry, it’s important that children understand how to safely explore the network of creeks that weave through our landscape. Through the Coastal Expeditions kayaking program, kids will gain the skills and confidence they need to do this. They’ll start with the basics, learning how to set up their kayak, create a float plan, read a tide table and use the required safety equipment. They’ll learn how to enter and exit the water, paddle properly and the skills for a self rescue. They’ll have the opportunity to go out and explore Shem Creek, Charleston Harbor and nearby tidal creeks while learning the secrets of the salt marsh.

Sessions are each $225/month and include all equipment and two Coastal Expedition guides.
Session I- September 8, 15, 22, 29
Session II- October 6, 13, 20, 27
Session III- November 3, 10, 17, 19

Visit Coastal Expeditions for more info or to sign up. While on campus, guides and kids will wear masks and socially distance. Once they are on the water, they can remove the masks. All guides are ACA-certified with life guard, first aid and CPR training.
