Drive up or boat in…Daniel Island now has its very first waterfront restaurant! Coastal-inspired and ingredient-driven, The Kingstide is now open along the picturesque Wando River. The restaurant is run by The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, who are no strangers to the Charleston foodie scene. They also own the well-known Charleston eateries Indaco, Oak Steakhouse, Mercantile and Mash, The Cedar Room, O-Ku, DIME and The Cocktail Club.

The Kingstide features a menu of just-caught dishes and fresh ingredients, they refer to as coastal fare with southern flair. Led by Executive Chef Kevin Getzewich, the restaurant offers a variety of seafood presented in both raw and wood-fired preparations. Inspired by the beautifully simple flavors of the sea, Getzewich partners with local and regional fisheries, farmers, and purveyors to showcase the Lowcountry’s bounty through fresh, seasonally driven cuisine. Classic raw bar offerings, include Peel & Eat Shrimp, Stone Crab Claws, Lobster Tails and, of course, Oysters.  They also offer inventive shareable starters, including Fish Bologna Sliders, Smoked Fish Dip and Tuna Tartare. Sandwiches and soups like Lobster Rolls, Trout Reuben, Crablt, Lowcountry Chowder and Fishermans Stew will add some familiar favorites to the menu. An assortment of fin fish—ranging from seasonal, fresh-caught tuna, and locally sourced trout—round out the entrée offerings alongside freshly made shellfish pasta dishes like Lobster Agnolotti and Crab Tonnarelli. Land-based produce and protein offerings include a Pub Steak and a variety of wood-fired vegetables.

Of course, no great restaurant is complete without great drinks! The Kingstide presents a full-service bar of cocktails, select beer and wine pairings. The cocktail menu provides guests with shaken, frozen and spirit-free options. Locally focused beers highlight Charleston’s vibrant brewery scene, and a hand-selected wine program from Indigo Road Sommelier Vonda Freeman places an emphasis on pink wines, bubbles and seafood-friendly selections.

To top it all off, The Kingstide is truly a restaurant with a view! Boasting a pristine setting along the Wando River, the two-story space features an abundance of windows that maximize natural light and picturesque views. Tall ceilings with warm wood beams frame the main dining room. The kitchen is open and complete with a wood-fired hearth and a front row seat at the chef’s counter or raw bar. Upstairs, views of the Wando are plentiful with floor-to-ceiling windows and a circular shaped bar, that leads to an expansive second floor deck.  This new spot sounds like all the makings of a good time, just in time for all the warm, beautiful Charleston weather.  To learn more or to see the full menu, visit The Kingstide’s website here.
